to minneapolis. a city that he wants to highlight. its murder rate has fallen 15% over the last five years. they are down 15%, but almost twice the national murder rate. for all of that, president obama spent hours in air force one, was on the ground barely two hours, and then got back on the plane. it cost taxpayers millions of dollars for him to travel for his speech about gun violence. minneapolis with the murder rate nearly twice the national, all of this happening after the president dropped into nevada for a couple of hours. there he delivered a 20 minute campaign speech on immigration. at a cost of more than $1.5 million of taxpayers money. the president claiming broad support for his initiatives of gun control. but he has offered no specific proposals at all. >> we have been able to take some steps of administrative action. real and lasting change also requires congress to do its part and to do it soon. not to wait. the good news is that we are starting to be a consensus emerge about the action that congress needs to take. lou: you have to wonder how safe the communities i were the

to the bottom of the screen there, you notice new york city and jersey didn't have a lot of snow over the next couple of hours. now it's starting to fill in a little bit. it's a little too late. this storm is moving very quickly. look at it on satellite imagery. you can see it just to the south. it's even past cape cod now. for new york city, you have two to four inches on the ground. you'll get another two to three by the time it's all said and done. new york city it's a tough forecast from the start. if there's one city that would be considered a bust, maybe that would be it. heaviest snow shifts, rhode island, massachusetts, new hampshire, coastal maine. we'll be ending the snow in the overnight hours. adirondacks, catskills, poconos and new jersey. we'll have blowing snow out there. heavy accumulating snows will be ending during the overnight hours. if anything, the storm is moving a little faster than expected. a lot of us will actually wake up with no snow falling from the sky saturday morning. the storm total forecast, new york city at 6 to 10, down to 4 to 8. we have a shot of getting

in new orleans. it's a situation where everything post 9/11 happens in a major city like superdome you have to start asking questions. there was no terrorism involved. nothing that way. the crowd never got to be in a panicked state when half of the power went out. when the company that supplies the energy to the superdome said basically it was a power surge. the system thought there was an abnormality and shut down. equivalent of at your house a power breaker goes off. a breaker broke. and the half of the energy in the stadium goes off. half the power goes off. here's the thing, for those of you watching at home you had no explanation because the power went out on the side of the announcers, jim nance and phil simms for cbs. you could not hear them because the power was out on their side of the stadium as well. so fans were in the dark inside the stadium and all over the world because there was no explanation. what happened was there was a surge -- there was no fire as originally reported. and the players resumed after 34 minutes on of a power outage. >> 34 long minutes. it felt like i
